Hi all
Are you recovering from an operation and feeling like you have so much time on your hands?
What are you doing to get through those weeks and months?

Apart from my iPad addiction...seriously....I bought a load of cheap Dvds on Ebay..mostly old films I never saw but looked interesting..also bought some box sets...24, Breaking Bad, West Wing....ones I never saw but everyone talked about. They'll go straight back on ebay when I've watched them all. I do my simple leg exercises every hour or so and try to have a little walk around the block each day....then there's the really good time filler of ordering your partner around, fetching this and that...always one thing at a time of course....watching him do the washing and ironing is quite entertaining too....better than daytime TV any day!!

Haha - sounds like your other half is having a similar time to the one that I put mine through!
Great to hear that you are committed to your exercises as well. I found (and still find) that that was the key to success. doing as I was told (but pushing the boundaries a little when I felt comfortable to).

lol - When it came to doing the exercises and restraining myself from certain things (such as driving) until I was told it was okay, I was surprisingly good, actually... given how rubbish I am at being told what to do normally!

I am going to watch all of the movies that I have missed out on! I also plan to finally read a few books for pleasure -without feeling guilty! Furthermore, I will be working on artwork and filling a sketchbook full of ideas!! I have been reading that keeping active (when you are ready) and going above and beyond is crucial to recovery. I am having my Left THR in April and will take all of the tips I can get! I am 31 and want to stay as active as possible. Can't wait to be pain free!!

Thanks for contributing, DirtyThirtiesHipster i think you've hit a couple of really interesting points bang on, there. Keeping active and pushing yourself, when you are ready is, I think, important... I did both and feel that it has been key to how I feel now. At 31 (pretty much the same age as I was when I had a right THR), there is no way that you'll want to be anything other than active and so, yes, that part of the recovery can fill the time own pretty well to be honest. i would expect that you'll get a whole range of leg and hip exercises to do too so you'll be thankful for the time to get into a routine for those. Films and books are a great idea too. Plus, of course, you can always come on this forum for a general natter or to offer / benefit from the support of others ;-) Thanks again and be sure to share this forum with anyone else who you think might benefit from it... The more people on here, the better it will be!!!
